Golden hour in Langley – The MacLeans photography

One of the huge perks of being a full-time wedding/engagement/portrait photographer with my husband Morgan is the ability to force him (haha okay coax him) into taking self portraits with me in towns super close by to our own, like for example, in Langley, B.C. I think it’s so important as a husband and wife wedding photography team who photographs other humans in love, to put ourselves in front of the lens often. Not only does it teach us what feels comfortable in front of the camera, poses and positioning, it allows us to grow as artists, to try out things outside of our own comfort zone and really stretch that creative muscle. I absolutely adore having so many memories of morgan and I and our relationship. Our house is covered in printed photos of us from over the years, and I love the visual representation and documentation we have of our love and this happiness we bring out in each other. There’s also something so exciting about shooting each other, it’s our alone time together, our time to be vulnerable together with our craft, all the while making it a date night. We love bringing beers and music and a little picnic to our shoots, including this photoshoot of just us two.
Morgan and I brought some local craft beers from Twin Sails Brewing and Lighthouse Brewing Co which were the perfect little treats to cool down on this warm golden hour evening in Langley. I also wanted to wear something locally made/crafted, so I rocked my fuzzy oversized cardigan sweater by Hunnis (https://www.shophunnis.com/ ) and a crop top sweater by Locomotive Clothing/Pressland General (https://presslandgeneral.ca/)
