When we first met Laura and Travis for beers, we instantly knew that these two were our kinda humans, and that we just had to photograph their wedding day at one of our favoruite B.C. wedding venues, Fraser River Lodge. The chemistry between Laura and Travis is undeniable, between the amount of inside jokes they share together (and don’t make you feel like the weirdo not getting the joke), these two are so warm, inviting, and have such a deep sense of respect and love for one another, to say the least we are pretty smitten with them and felt so honoured and lucky that they asked us to be a part of their wedding day.
The wedding day was held at Fraser River Lodge, in Agassiz B.C., which was the perfect setting for these two. Laura and Travis had their outdoor ceremony on the lawns with incredible mountain backdrop of Mt Cheam, a wooden cabin vibe feel of their reception space filled with little bistro lights and the most bumping music thanks to their DJ, a first look nestled in the forest, and enjoyed their cocktail hour on the patio which included such a tasty charcuterie board spread and lots of delicious drinks for all.
Laura and Travis infused so many personal touches into their wedding day that incorporated both their relationship together and the people that mean the most to them. Our bride, Laura, had a memorial photo display set up for her father, and having two older brothers that meant so much to her, she wanted to have them both take on some of those more traditional father-of-the-bride roles. She opted for a first look with one of her brothers, who also walked her down the aisle (and I swear, every guest, us photographers, the groom Travis, we were all bawling at that moment), and had her other big brother have a first dance with her during the wedding reception. These two men were a powerhouse of both emotions, and such a strong support system for Laura on her wedding day, we can all hope to be as lucky as she is to have such amazing siblings. They also had a dream wedding party, who were ready to rally with them both from wedding party photos, to standing proud along side them at the alter, showing off some epic dance moves (and costumes) during their wedding party entrance, and the most heart filled speeches around.
Laura and Travis also had a custom photobooth for guests to enjoy, one of Travis’s business partners ran the DJ booth (that seriously had some epic beats throughout the night), and they turned something they love doing together, listening to records, and instead of having a traditional guestbook, put out records and fancy pens for everyone to sign the fronts of records so they can later display them in their home.
Wedding days like this, photographing two people who love the absolute shit out of each other, who are best friends, literally lights us up so much and makes our hearts so full. We are so grateful to have helped document, photograph, and be a part of Laura and Travis’s wedding day at Fraser River Lodge, and these two will forever hold such a special place in our hearts.
“My husband and I cannot say enough good things about the Macleans!!! They are the most fun, caring, considerate and talented photographers we have ever met. Right from the first meeting, we knew we wanted to have them not only be a part of the big day, but to be lifelong friends. They truly care about their clients and go ABOVE AND BEYOND for them. We look at our photos of our engagement and wedding almost daily because they truly captured it perfectly. There is no doubt they will be capturing all our special moments for years to come. If you need a photographer, these are the people to book!”
