No matter the season, Whistler B.C. is an absolutely gorgeous location for a destination wedding! With so many venues to host your wedding, lakes, forests, and trails to explore, restaurants to host a wedding rehearsal dinner or a post wedding day maybe slightly hung over brunch, plus the village is completely all walkable, Whistler B.C. is such an epic location for a wedding!
Janessa and Neil chose to get married at The Westin Resort & Spa in Whistler, B.C., for their wedding day. Morg and I never like to arrive at a destination wedding on the morning of (my anxiety cannot handle all those what if’s for the drive/journey to a destination wedding and risk something out of our control happening), so we drove up the day before to get settled in and do some major location scouting around Whistler for the perfect location for Janessa and Neil’s wedding photos.
On the wedding morning itself, Janessa and Neil both got ready in separate beautiful deluxe two floor loft suites at Westin Resort and Spa, Whistler. The girls all got their hair and makeup done, while we found out afterwards the boys after getting ready were practicing a surprise dance to be performed later during the wedding reception. Janessa and Neil opted to write each other hand written love notes to each other, which they read privately before heading down for their ceremony. Neil’s expression as he saw Janessa walking down the wedding aisle with her dad was completely priceless, there may have been some sneaky tears, just saying. Our bride and groom said their vows and had their intimate ceremony with a beautiful mountain backdrop, which had all guests crying and cheering for them and their love for one another. We spent the next few hours with Janessa, Neil, and their 13 person wedding party exploring Whistler and shooting all of their wedding party portraits and bride and groom photos (which we were super thankful we location scouted the day before, because incase you didn’t know, Whistler B.C., is HUGE and offers such a wide diversity in locations for portraits, and one can easily get lost amongst all the trails there hah).
After an outfit change for all, we did some wedding day portraits around Whistler Village, then the wedding party and our couple did their grand wedding day entrance, including a ton of dancing, shots, and so many cheers of applause. Janessa and Neil opted to cut their cake (and set out these delicious and massive cupcakes for all to enjoy at their leisure) as soon as they walked in, followed by a delicious dinner. Speeches filled the night from parents, siblings, bridesmaids and groomsmen, and finished off with a slideshow of the many memories and experiences Janessa and Neil had shared together over the years.
Two of Janessa’s bridesmaids performed a very epic dance, followed by a completely surprise choreographed dance lead by our groom, Neil, and his groomsmen, and I tell you Janessa’s jaw was on the floor! The night ended with the majority of guests heading outside on the outdoor dance floor, filled with epic moves and celebrating. Hands down this was such a special wedding day and so much fun! We are so thankful that Janessa and Neil trusted us to document and be a part of their wedding day in Whistler, B.C. We cannot wait to come back here again!
