Our two brides, Amy and Erin, had a wedding day that was filled to the brim with relaxed vibes, celebrating, and so much love, all ay a private property backyard in Maple Ridge, British Columbia.
Amy and Erin, were determined to get married and have one of the best days ever on their wedding day, and despite many date changes, venue changes, restrictions and last minute flip flops in the weather (I’m talking super sunny one minute to a sudden torrential downpour). Amy and Erin had such an amazing wedding day, and we are so thankful they trusted us to be a part of and photograph such a special day. We had such an amazing time hanging out with these two and photographing their engagement photoshoot in Victoria, B.C., so of course we just knew their wedding day was going to be absolutely epic.
Starting with a first look at Whonnock Lake in Maple Ridge, followed by some wedding photos with such an amazing wedding party crew on the docks and forest trails at Whonnock Lake. We were delighted to soak up the surprise and fleeting sunshine that the forecast had certainly not called for. Suddenly we all heard the distinct crack of thunder, and the rain came down hard, as we all ran to our cars. We all drove over to Amy’s parents place, aka, one of the dreamiest and prettiest private backyard wedding venues in Maple Ridge, for the ceremony and reception to follow.
The ceremony was filled with so many tears of joy from our two brides, their friends and family, wedding party, and ourselves. The intimate wedding ceremony was performed by Beth from Young Hip and Married., Beth hands down did such an amazing job at making the ceremony engaging, personal to our brides, and timely. It was so beautiful listening to the personalized vows Amy and Erin wrote for one another. I swear, there was not a single dry eye in the house during those wedding vows.
Afterwards, Amy and Erin were able to participate in their cocktail hour with their guests. Enjoying a delicious charcuterie spread and a wide range of canapes from mini handheld cheeseburgers (that were oh my god so good), deviled eggs, veggies, nude vodkas, the spread was so flipping yummy and had the perfect mix of backyard bbq elegance and chic.
Speeches were given by parents, siblings, grandmas, and had everyone laughing one minute, and tearing up the next. The evening finished up with an epic outdoor dancefloor. There were some killer dance moves. One of my favourite photos of the entire day was actually during Amy’s first dance with her dad, and peeping Erin in the background hugging her dad, crying while she watched her beautiful new bride, on their wedding day.
We feel so lucky to have been a part of this new chapter in Amy and Erin’s relationship together, and cannot wait for more intimate backyard wedding days like this, just layered head to toe in so much love!
