If you’ve made the ultimate decision to postpone your 2020 wedding to 2021, you’ll now have the option to ELOPE on your special day (or fuck it, any day that speaks to you and your significant other) THIS YEAR! As BC has now announced that we are officially allowed to expand our social circles to 2-6 people, that means that you can officially elope now and celebrate your big wedding day LATER (2 for 1 wedding anyone), YAHOOO!!!
Who can be there with you:
Elopements are still restricted to 5 humans (an officiant, the couple, and 2 witnesses, which hey just putting it out there, Morg and I make excellent witnesses, double dates, AND can shoot your elopement, what a steal of a deal).
Here’s a list of a few officiants we absolute adore and highly recommend if you’re looking for do a 5 person elopement this year:
Stephanie of https://sweetheartevents.com/
Christian Sawka of https://www.christiandoesweddings.com/
Shawn Miller of https://www.younghipandmarried.com/

Elopement outfits:
You can really wear whatever da fuck you want for your elopement if you don’t want to “ruin” the surprise of what you’ll be wearing on your wedding day.
Here’s a blog post I made that features awesome bridesmaid dress ideas, with a list of stores that you can shop at that aren’t the traditional bridal shop, and a fraction of the price, and the same idea would apply to your elopement outfits.

Don’t feel restricted to stay in the traditional “white dress” and suit situation that is often seen at wedding days. I personally LOVE non-traditional outfits, and to be honest, my own wedding dress that I wore at my wedding was probably my biggest and only regret about our wedding day. Don’t be like me, where whatever suits your body, makes you happy and feel like the bomb ass babe that you are! You also don’t need to spend a fortune on this outfit (if you don’t want to), since we’re all at home for the most part anyways try hunting on Facebook Market Place for your killer outfits for a fraction of the price.
Think outside the box, instead of opting for a long wedding dress, you could rock a beautiful jumpsuit (bonus if it has pockets), a skirt with a bodysuit or a crop top (a local designer we’ve worked with quite a few times make some super affordable and stunning floor length tulle skirts https://www.aniela.ca/product-category/tulle-skirts/full-length-skirts/ ), or fuck it, wear whatever your heart desires!
Now that BC provincial parks will be reopening, you can pretty much do this anywhere. B.C. is FILLED with gorgeous provincial parks, forests, the ocean, mountains, ahh we really do have it good here. There are so many places in BC that are awesome for your elopement, we’re going to list some of our favourite in no particular order:
Pacific Spirit Regional Park – Vancouver, B.C. near UBC
Lightning Lake – Manning Provincial Park B.C.
Whytecliff Park – West Vancouver, B.C.
Pitt Lake – Pitt Meadows, B.C.
Blackie Spit – Surrey B.C.
Golden Ears Provincial Park – Maple Ridge B.C.
Galiano Island – British Columbia
Elopements aren’t for everyone, we get that. But if you are set on having a special day on your original wedding date this year but got smacked on the side of the head with the world pandemic, eloping outdoors in an intimate way this year is an amazing and truly such an intimate way to get married in 2020 in B.C. They are an amazing way to eliminate so much wedding stress you may be facing, can save you a bunch of money that would have been spent on a giant wedding day to focus in on the things that matter most (saying I do to your hubby or wife to be), and will be such a story to tell. We hope this guide has helped you if you have been faced with the decision: do we cancel our 2020 wedding or postpone? The decision is yours and your partners alone, and what matters most is doing what is right for you two as you start this next chapter in your relationship as married folks.
